SOFTER DISTURBANCE REGIME
Context is key in determining who bears the label “invader”. These photographs describe a process of reconciliation in which I submit my backyard to invasive species that overtake it every spring. The evidence of previous attempts at controlling the plants exists in the shrinking presence of a camouflage tarp, discarded office rug, and weather-beaten wooden chairs. Who am I to disturb this world they’ve built? The ecology of the space is clear: there is no place for us to sit.
